Thoughts from a First Time Homeowner

In an hour, my fiancee and I will have owned a home for 24 hours. Kind of feels weird. I don't think the reality of the situation has sunk in (just the like reality that in 1.5 months I will be Mrs. Jason Sheffield). We won't actually move in just yet, and of course for all of you wondering, we won't both live there until we are legally married. Amelia and Adam sold us the house; they are building a beautiful house in Trailwood West. And, no, we aren't going to be mean and kick them out. We are so thankful to them for everything they have done for us.

So, in the meantime, I'll have a few weeks to realize that I own a house. My advice for anyone buying a home for the first time (or even thinking about it)? Align yourself with someone trustworthy. We were very fortunate to have both Amelia (who has had several years in the mortgage industry and now handles the Team's closings) and Adam (a successful REALTOR® and listing partner for the Team) by our side. Didn't have to worry with a thing. Amelia and Adam explained everything to us, so there were no surprises. We also had a great loan originator at Community Bank - Tammy Guyse. Tammy worked hard at making sure everything came together without a flaw. Thanks to all of you - Jason and I love ya and have had the best experience buying our first home.

So if you are purchasing a home, especially for the first time, find yourself a good REALTOR®. (I highly recommend the buyer specialists on our team!)

  1. We're very proud for both of you. Amelia and I are blessed with siblings and, eh, "sibings-in-law?" :) on both sides of our family that make us proud. No deadbeats! At least not yet. Usually there's at least one in a family, so I consider it a divine blessing that we're so fortunate.
We think it's quite special that you both get to experience your first years of marriage in the same residence as we experienced ours. And hopefully, we'll be out in time - HAHA!!
