I am a sucker for anything that features a time from the past or future. I love the look of clothes and interiors that are no longer in fashion.<br />
<br />
My latest obsession is a new to me show from BBC called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paradise_(TV_series)" target="_blank">The Paradise</a>. It only lasted two seasons, so I've been watching it on Netflix. The show is about a young woman, Denise, who goes to work in the first department store. The set is absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to shop in a store like this one.<br />

Usually I end up with 3-5 things that never happen. See, I'm very good at starting stuff. Not too good at finishing them.<br />
<br />
This year my focus is on ONE goal: I'm going to read through the entire Bible chronologically.<br />
<br />
I've read through the entire Bible before when I was college. And, certainly, I've read the Bible since then. When I was in college, I was wholly devoted to reading scripture every single day. Then, I got married. And bought a house. And got a dog. And had a child. And the list goes on and on. I became so caught up in being a wife and a mother that, slowly, reading God's Word got shoved to the side. I didn't stop reading the Bible, but it was no longer a priority in my daily schedule.<br />
<br />
Well, that's changing. And here's a huge reason why: If I want to change something in my life, I need to be properly aligned. Otherwise, any change I desire will not last.<br />
<br />
Okay, let me explain with a story. I used to work for my brother-in-law who is one of the top realtors in the area. (No, I'm not being biased - he really is!) I used to drive around to all of the properties and take pictures to use on the website and in print materials. Well, you can imagine the toll that takes on a vehicle. Of course, running over a few curbs doesn't help either. And, eventually I was really straining to keep the car on a straight path. In other words, I needed a front-end alignment.<br />
<br />
I also needed tires. Now, I could have easily gone in and asked for tires only. I would have saved a little money and would have been able to drive my car. But, I would have still be straining to keep my path straight. So, I got the necessary alignment done. And, as the mechanic pointed out, it makes sense to do the alignment while changing tires because it's easier. Less steps or something like that; I'm not really good at auto stuff, so that's the extent of my knowledge. And my memory of the incident.<br />
<br />
Just like I made an alignment when I changed my tires, I need an alignment to God's Word before I make any changes in my life. So, diving into scripture makes perfect sense. And not a "I'm reading scripture only when I need guidance on a specific subject," but "I'm going to read this daily, whether I'm on a mountaintop or in a valley."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://rachelwojo.com/daily-bible-reading/" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvcYkrmQXh6oWlZtdJG8mH2t7PJDioYJoXSrpFr4DG-sOaD7Pc1ZroqENF5DdpL-fMUFPkMlOw1yFuyILf3346ZZqpNI_g_DP1GX1HEdtw8zsLrVzHrKK61VCQJ5Dx0eP2RFY0CWdDPdDF/s320/daily-Bible-reading-challenge1.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>
I found an online group to read alongside with at <a href="http://rachelwojo.com/" target="_blank">Rachel Wojnarowski's blog</a>. She has a lot of great resources including <a href="http://rachelwojo.com/simple-bible-study-guide/" target="_blank">a simple Bible study guide</a>, <a href="http://rachelwojo.com/prayer-journal-printables/" target="_blank">prayer bookmarks</a>, and <a href="http://rachelwojo.com/ways-to-saturate-your-life-with-scripture/" target="_blank">ways to saturate your life with scripture</a>. Trust me, visit her site and you will spend hours looking at all of the amazing resources.<br />
<br />
I was encouraged by Rachel's challenge to read the Bible daily. I signed up and planned to use the M'Cheyne reading plan. (<i>Click on the image to go to Rachel's post about the daily Bible reading challenge.</i>)<br />
<br />
Then, something amazing happened. <a href="http://petalharvey.org/" target="_blank">Our pastor </a>issued a challenge to the entire church to join him in reading the Bible chronologically. He even provided us with a <a href="http://petalharvey.org/brochure%20simple.pdf" target="_blank">reading plan</a>. The plan goes right along with the chronological reading plan in the Olive Tree app that I'm using.<br />
<br />
How awesome is that?!? Just imagine how much my church family will be changed through this, and for the better! God will be glorified and we will reach even more people for Christ!<br />
<br />
I'm going to be<a href="http://wonderfullycomplexbecoming.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> blogging through my daily readings on my BEcoming page</a>, where I share my spiritual life story.<br />
<br />
I'm super excited about this journey!<br />

<i><span style="color: #999999;">What are your plans, resolutions, or goals for 2014?</span></i>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05074593878858460402noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2126984117583600273.post-12665333822018320502013-07-12T06:00:00.000-05:002013-07-12T06:00:07.390-05:00Too Much LoveI have several cards that I haven't shared here because things kind of got crazy around the time I made these. I found a pack of 8x8 paper in the value bin at Michaels. I loved the color combinations, and set to work making tons of cards using this and <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-52504/february-2013-i-like/Detail" target="_blank">this stamp set</a> from Simon Says Stamp.<br />
<br />
Here's one of my favorites.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8506038186/" title="Michaels Papers and SSS February 2013 Card Kit Stamp by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Michaels Papers and SSS February 2013 Card Kit Stamp" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8101/8506038186_b7ccc17b33.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This card took some time because of all the weaving. I remember doing this in my art classes in grade school. I loved making paper placemats using the weaving technique. I added some foam hearts from the craft section and popped the greeting on top. This is definitely one of those bulky cards that would require extra postage.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8506036442/" title="IMG_1Michaels Papers and SSS February 2013 Card Kit Stamp620 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_1Michaels Papers and SSS February 2013 Card Kit Stamp620" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8506/8506036442_175db59936.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Lots of room inside for a sweet message. I added just a touch of something inside to jazz it up. I love to see inside of cards when they are decorated.</div>
<br />

Here's my first of many #tbt images. I thought it would be a great way for me to share some older photos here that I haven't shared before.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/9262124797/" title="#TBT July 11, 2013 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="#TBT July 11, 2013" height="281" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5496/9262124797_d4696da1b9.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This picture was taken with our video camera (which, sadly, is missing, so we purchased a new one). Fortunately, I took the images off before it went missing. I thought I had lost these pictures and videos from our trip to Orange Beach. I recently found them in a random folder. Yay!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Hugh was very young...three or four months old. We were enjoying our indoor swimming pool on a rainy day, but since Hugh was on a strict feeding schedule (the joys of a preemie), I had to take a break from swimming to feed him. Look at what a cutie he was!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Happy Thursday!</div>

There are a lot of great stamps in this release, perfect for both cards, scrapbook layouts, and Project Life. Here are a few that have caught my eye.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://shop.heroarts.com/p/my-words/shop-by-catalog_stamp-your-story_clear?pp=12" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8EFokaM114ZLpnrfVwd4UJzv_ucvxvGBXMRgFmaqA97CXQFR0TblJVOesiu8xi0Jsn-xEyhdbNebrNt7Jx_Up9p76A7LIXr_nabtQ5BPLu6bDF-Mb8vckPdtk7-Pp1aD0c0Vb5juIFMxQ/s320/e004fe402e3079578142611a7de2dc57.jpg" width="188" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://shop.heroarts.com/p/my-words/shop-by-catalog_stamp-your-story_clear?pp=12" target="_blank">My Words</a> - I love the font on this. This would be cute for cards, but also perfect for Project Life. I could see myself using these as accents to my journaling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://shop.heroarts.com/p/journal-letters/shop-by-catalog_stamp-your-story_clear?pp=12" target="_blank">Journal Letters</a> - This is probably my favorite. I love the look of handwritten letters. This is <a href="http://shop.heroarts.com/p/letters?pp=12" target="_blank">similar to this one</a> but the letters are uppercase instead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She is so creative!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b>How did you spend your Memorial Day weekend?</b>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05074593878858460402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2126984117583600273.post-66272753188636543822013-03-14T13:15:00.000-05:002013-03-14T13:15:01.909-05:00Project Life 2013: Week One<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549307272/" title="Project Life 2013: Week #1 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Week #1" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8104/8549307272_1bdab80654.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
One thing I have found over time is that I prefer one album per year. When I did Project 365 in 2010, I ended up needing two albums to hold 52 weeks worth of pictures (two page spread per week). I'm not a math major, but my brain quickly figured out that by the time I was 50, I would need a library to hold my albums.<br />
<br />
The best way I found to combat this was to devote only one page per week. That means when I look at an open spread, I am seeing two weeks at a time. Honestly, this works fine for me. Most of the time I don't have enough stuff happen within a week to fill two pages. On weeks when a lot happens (for example, Hugh's birthday), I can add inserts with more photos.<br />
<br />
I used the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/servlet/the-51760/persnickety-january-2013-white/Detail" target="_blank">Simon Says Stamp January 2013 card kit</a> for papers. Like I mentioned in my <a href="http://wonderfullycomplex.blogspot.com/2013/03/project-life-2013-cover-page.html" target="_blank">cover page post</a>, I'm not using a designated PL kit, but instead using up my stash. I like the freedom this affords me. But, if you simply want to show photos and journaling, a kit is the easiest way to go.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549303048/" title="Project Life 2013: Week #1 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Week #1" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8100/8549303048_decc28df46.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is the backside of that beautiful lace transparency. I punched a circle out of the paper included in the kit. To cover up the hearts on the other side, I glued down some foam glitter stars from the craft aisle.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549302176/" title="Project Life 2013: Week #1 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Week #1" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8252/8549302176_c45746d1c6.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm obsessed with sequins and glitter right now, so I created a pocket containing my goals for 2013. To keep the pocket closed (and the glitter and sequins in), I sewed down the side. I ended up sewing down the side of all the pockets because I have trouble with pictures falling out of the sleeves on this particular design.<br />
<br />
A few more pics...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8548205349/" title="Project Life 2013: Week #1 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Week #1" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8112/8548205349_e3b3a1844b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I love the wood veneer shapes from Freckled Fawn. And those October Afternoon alphas? One in every color please.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549305602/" title="Project Life 2013: Week #1 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Week #1" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8524/8549305602_a20e64a511.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I bought some cute glitter paper lamps that Hugh promptly destroyed. Eh, oh well. So I cut it up and used it in my album! I swiped my black ink pad along a portion of the paper to mimic my New Year's Eve manicure.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549304738/" title="Project Life 2013: Week #1 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Week #1" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8519/8549304738_a0c3fd65f4.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Did I mention my current obsession with glitter? Another pocket to include tinsel from New Year's Eve, plus a mixture of white gold and silver Martha Stewart glitter. And, since I had forgotten my dates on my week card, I glued it on top of the glitter card.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Thanks for looking!</div>

Project Life is a solution-based approach to scrapbooking that was created by Becky Higgins to simplify the process in order to allow you more time to enjoy life! </span><span style="color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">This back-to-basics approach to scrapbooking appeals to the person who's never made a scrapbook in their life as well as those with experience because it allows you to feel the freedom that comes from letting go of the "guilt" that so many associate with the memory keeping process. It has totally revolutionized the way I scrapbook. I used to have stacks and stacks of photos printed, waiting to be scrapbooked. And I felt like a complete failure, like I wasn't getting my story told. Yes, I was guilty of over complicating documenting your story.<br />
<br />
Then, along came <a href="http://www.beckyhiggins.com/products/what-is-project-life.php" target="_blank">Becky Higgins and her *little* thing called Project Life</a>. I could get as creative or as simple as I chose. The main idea was telling my story. If you haven't heard of Project Life before, check out this video.<br />
<br />
Now, back to this year's album. I've done a great job of staying on task, however I haven't done such a great job of sharing them with you guys. Oops. Sorry about that.<br />
<br />
I decided instead of buying a core kit, I would use up my stash. (However, I just might have to get a PL kit because the new kits coming out in May are beautiful!) I found a beautiful lace transparency at Michaels. I also picked up a patterned paper kit in the $1 bin section and was immediately drawn to that gorgeous rose paper.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8545936185/" title="Project Life 2013: Cover Page by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Cover Page" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8243/8545936185_fe4a8aece6.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<br />
For each family member's initial I used leftover American Craft stickers that were a little too large for most of my projects.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8547229882/" title="Project Life 2013: Cover Page by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Cover Page" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8516/8547229882_4066f8d305.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<br />
I love this stamp from Simon Says Stamp's January card kit. So perfect for an opening page, don't you think?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8548116285/" title="Project Life 2013: Cover Page by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Cover Page" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8250/8548116285_e01f988c70.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<br />
There's that fabulous rose paper that drew my eye. I used my silhouette to cut out the S and 2013 text. I used Impact font and simply typed it into the silhouette software. Nothing fancy. I backed the paper with some kraft paper included in the kit but decided the text didn't stand out enough, so I outlined it with a white paint pen.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549213312/" title="Project Life 2013: Cover Page by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Cover Page" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8380/8549213312_1ae943c732.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I also wanted to include the bathroom people, so I put one for each of us. That was a file I purchased years ago from the Silhouette store, and I typed "the story of us" and cut it out as well.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8549211084/" title="Project Life 2013: Cover Page by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Cover Page" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8389/8549211084_146cd4d46f.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<br />
I love the pictures I used for each of us. I had a hard time finding one I like of just me. I need to get in front of the camera more.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8548195013/" title="Project Life 2013: Cover Page by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Project Life 2013: Cover Page" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8529/8548195013_a015aa0a48.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I've taken pictures of Week 1-6, and I'll share those soon!<br />

I've been eyeing the adorable kits every single month but was hesitant to commit to spending part of my monthly allowance. Well, I couldn't take it. The stamps were so adorable, and the price was amazing, so I finally made the commitment. And, boy, am I glad I did!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am huge fan of kits because they take the guess work out of making cards. And, one of my goals was to make four cards a month. (Yeah, that's not many, but more than zero, lol)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm finally getting around to photographing and sharing my cards.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At first, I made two cards that were exact copies of samples that Kristina made.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8502310136/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8520/8502310136_8f1da0581b.jpg" width="500" /></a>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But, then the creative bug hit. In the middle of the night, my brain was wide awake with ideas. The first idea I had was to highlight the zig zags, but at an angle.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8501201873/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8245/8501201873_520484c318.jpg" width="500" /></a>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8502309466/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8382/8502309466_5f2c4b621c.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I had some heart doilies that I had misted, and one of them matched the green and gray paper perfectly. I also decided to start decorating the inside of the card as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8506041766/" title="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8102/8506041766_775dda4890.jpg" width="500" /></a>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8504932203/" title="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8250/8504932203_e53af19fd7.jpg" width="500" /></a>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8506041370/" title="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8522/8506041370_e7a6cb071a.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Several cardmakers were utilizing watercolors on their cards, and I was smitten. I tried it with a card, but...EPIC FAIL. Never one to waste, I turned it into a distressed card with lots of purple, mint, and brown. I like the color combination, but I'm not sold on the card.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8501205927/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8371/8501205927_396a693f4a.jpg" width="500" /></a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Not too fond of this card, either. I think it's the ribbon that really turns me off. But, I like the design. I'll have to try that again with different colors.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8501205561/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8226/8501205561_3a41ecb0e0.jpg" width="500" /></a>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8501203439/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8368/8501203439_00fb742d88.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I really love the navy cardstock that was included in the kit. Navy is a very trendy color right now. I definitely need to add more navy to my projects. I also wanted to make a card with a window. This one was huge, lol!</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8501202885/" title="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp: January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8232/8501202885_f51d43f5dd.jpg" width="500" /></a>

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used some old Martha Stewart lace circle stickers I got on clearance to make flowers. I love the kraft circle stickers included in the kit. I think I will order some more of those!</div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8504931699/" title="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Simon Says Stamp January 2013 Card Kit" height="333" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8382/8504931699_2b84a20cbe.jpg" width="500" /></a>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I made several other cards, some using only stamps. I also used the kit on my Project Life spread for Week one. Definitely will be sharing soon. Stay tuned!</div>

<br />
We pray for continued blessings on everyone. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)<br />

<br />
And, while we wholeheartedly agree that the birth was ever so important, let us not lose focus of the reason behind the birth. More so than a sweet babe in the manger, Christ's purpose was salvation. "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again." <b>Wondering: </b>I really want to be at home with Hugh. But is that God's desire for me at this moment? At the same time, I absolutely love teaching. But, do I want to continue with high school or transition to middle school/upper elementary? In need of direction.</div>

I needed to take an exam to add an endorsement to my current teaching license, so we figured we would take a mini vacation.<br />
<br />
First off, we had to stop at Sonic's Happy Hour to get us something that would last the entire trip. Nothing like a Route 44 half off! I was good and made mine a Diet Coke. I also kept looking back at Hugh, amazed at how big he is getting. I see those size 7 Nike's and those adorable legs...my baby isn't a baby anymore! Hello, toddler territory!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8148677613/" title="Happy hour. Yes, that's a Route 44. by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Happy hour. Yes, that's a Route 44." height="320" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8471/8148677613_b3246cf73e.jpg" width="320" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8148677564/" title="Yup. We have a toddler. Look at those legs. My boy is growing up. by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Yup. We have a toddler. Look at those legs. My boy is growing up." height="320" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8047/8148677564_312f0d3ea9.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Hugh loved the hotel room. This was his first time in one. I love traveling as well. We stayed in a nice hotel. Not such a nice neighborhood (on the edge of downtown, a little too close to some shabby neighborhoods), but we still felt very safe.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8148990395/" title="First time in a hotel room. Pretty cool experience. by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="First time in a hotel room. <br />
We also discovered Duck Dynasty. Don't judge...we don't have cable. A&E had a Duck Dynasty marathon, and we were in redneck heaven! (P.S. Uncle Si is my favorite!)<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8149234875/" title="Watching Duck Dynasty for the first time. (Don't judge. We don't have cable.) Totally hooked. <br />
And no trip to Jackson is complete without a stop at Bass Pro.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8150931959/" title="Checking out the fish. by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Checking out the fish." height="320" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8472/8150931959_f704a5de53.jpg" width="320" /></a><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/8150989184/" title="Having a very important hunting equipment lesson. by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Having a very important hunting equipment lesson." height="320" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7129/8150989184_a4aafaf32d.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />

<br />
Our last stop was the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. This was such a cool place! The current exhibit was a dinosaur exhibit. At first, Hugh was a tad bit scared. But he started to warm up to the dinosaurs, eventually giving us hilarious dinosaur roars!<br />
<br />

The museum was a taxidermist's heaven! We loved finding all of the animals in each exhibit. Some were easy to find (exhibits like the first pic below). Others were set up like you would see it in nature. Hugh also loved the aquarium portion. Turtles, fish, snakes, frogs...it was so cool. Perhaps I have a budding marine biologist on my hands.<br />

Whew, it was a busy day but definitely lots of fun! If you are near the Jackson area, I highly recommend the museum. It rocked!<br />
<br />
Oh and it didn't hurt to come home and scream ROLL TIDE all evening. :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05074593878858460402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2126984117583600273.post-65019765071817154242012-01-16T15:16:00.000-06:002013-01-31T18:01:05.653-06:00Weekend Lens: January 14-16, 2012We had a pretty mellow weekend, which a lot of times is a great thing. It's nice to slow down and enjoy the moment, especially when you have a sick one at home. Who graciously gave both momma and dada his crud.<br />

Lots of runny noses, booger wiping, and coughs. Poor baby.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our house is beginning to look like a pharmacy. But most of those are actually mine. A couple are my normal meds I take daily. But one is an antibiotic that I had to stop taking because it gave me a head to toe rash. Turns out I'm allergic to sulfa. Good to know.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Having the crud didn't stop little man from playing with his toys. He had a Parents as Teachers visit this week, and Mrs. Theresa brought new toys to play with. Plus, little man has been loving his Christmas toys.</div>

Hugh could have a billion and one toys and he will always ALWAYS always go for the laptop. Or the remote. Or one of our cell phones. By the way, I love that one sock is missing in this photo. He always loses a sock.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our dear friends, Joseph and Katherine, came over to see Hugh. We'd like to think they came over to hang out with us, but we know the truth. Joseph had not seen Hugh since he was two months old, and this was Katherine's first time to see Hugh in person.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Joseph brought this awesome game over. I didn't want to play at first, but he forced me. It's called Settlers of Catan. Pretty cool game. Added to the wish list.</div>

This Father's Day was extremely important because it was Jason's first Father's Day as a daddy. That morning Jason opened his gift from Hugh. Part of his gift is money to go towards a pistol. But I wanted to get him something unexpected. I was going to get some accessories for his grill, but as I walking through Target I spotted the perfect gift - a hammock.<br />
<br />
I couldn't wait for Jason to open it. When I saw the hammock, I pictured many lazy summer evenings spent there. I could see Jason and Hugh relaxing after swimming or playing in the yard.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A hammock (and hammock stand)!</td></tr>

Then, we headed off to Beaumont to go to church at First Baptist Church (where all of Jason's side of the family goes). MiMi came with us. During the opening prayer, Hugh let out two huge burps. I'm not sure that he will be invited back, lol!<br />

As a plus-size gal, people are always looking at you wondering if you really are pregnant. Now I can stick my belly out with no shame! :)</div><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Hubby and I went to the doctor yesterday and listened to our little one's heartbeat. Even at 12 weeks the doctor was able to hear a nice strong heartbeat. Poppyseed's heart was beating at 160 beats/minute. Lots of discussion on whether we think it's a girl or boy. According to the old wives' tale, a heartbeat faster than 140 means it's a girl. Of course, I give no stock to wives' tales because nothing seems to come true with them.</div><br /><div style="text-align: left;">We have one more regular check up, and in November we will have the BIG check up...the ultrasound where we can find out if Poppyseed is a boy or girl. Either way, we love this precious baby! (I'm hoping that my doctor will schedule this visit right before Christmas so I can find out in time for after-Thanksgiving sales!)</div><br /><div style="text-align: left;"></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/5023488182/" title="2010-09-25 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="2010-09-25" class="aligncenter" height="500" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/5023488182_4a3090f055.jpg" style="border: 0pt none;" width="292" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05074593878858460402noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2126984117583600273.post-43577133738409502032010-08-13T18:45:00.000-05:002013-01-31T17:58:20.809-06:00Baby Bump Update: Week 5<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://thesheffields.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/2010-08-07.jpg"><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-386" height="587" src="http://thesheffields.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/2010-08-07.jpg" style="border: 0pt none;" title="2010-08-07" width="343" /></a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05074593878858460402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2126984117583600273.post-75152990015402334472010-06-01T04:38:00.002-05:002013-01-31T17:50:54.760-06:00OWH Blog Hop WinnerSuper congrats to the winner of the OWH Blog Hop:<br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be a part of this year's Operation Write Home (OWH) blog hop! This is my second year to participate. If you aren't familiar with OWH, let me fill you in. It's an awesome organization that sends handmade cards to soldiers stationed overseas so they can write home to loved ones. For more information about OWH, check out their <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/index.html" target="_blank">website</a> or <a href="http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/">blog</a>.</div><br />
*If you are reading this post through a feed reader, facebook, or by stumbling across it, the blog hop actually starts <a href="http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/2010/05/memorial-day-bloghop-starts-here.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
I am a huge supporter of our troops because I understand the sacrifice they are making. My father was in the army when I was younger. In fact, I was born in Germany. Mom was blessed to be with him while he was stationed there. Other times, though, we were forced to be apart. Us back home and him overseas. I have two sisters, and we are all close in age, so I can't imagine how hard it was for Mom to go to the grocery store with a toddler and two babies.<br />
<br />
So, thank you to all the troops (and their loved ones) who sacrifice time with family to guarantee my freedom. And, many prayers to those who have lost loved ones.<br />
<br />
Now onto the card!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wonderfullycomplex/4650034182/" title="Miss_You_02 by wonderfully complex, on Flickr"><img alt="Miss_You_02" border="0" class="aligncenter" height="333" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3625/4650034182_78914ff18e.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">The theme was "Missing You" with red, white, and blue.</div><br />
<ol><li>Stamp a background onto red cardstock. I love the look of tone-on-tone stamping for a subtle background. It really makes the card look great without distracting from the other elements. Papertrey Ink is great for that because they have inks to match their cardstock.</li>
<li>Cut patterned paper into strips of varying sizes. Adhere going along the side and the bottom.</li>
<li>Cut a large star using the Silhouette (you can certainly use other die cut machines or punches). Adhere with pop dots.</li>
<li>Punch two smaller stars.</li>
<li>Add the sentiment.</li>
</ol><br />

I absolutely love stamping because it is economical, easy, and always in style. You can use stamps over and over in many different ways. Ippity stamps are some of my favorites. They are a sister company to Unity Stamp Co. and are high-quality red-rubber cling stamps with many cute sentiments and images. I happen to be a representative for Ippity stamps, so if you are interested in purchasing, please visit my blog for more information. <i>If you are unfamiliar with how cling stamps work, <a href="http://wonderfullycomplex.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/05-29-owhbloghop-main.jpg2010/04/how-to-use-ippity-stamps/">click here for my YouTube video explaining it</a>.</i><br />

Last week I had a booth at the Duds for Doodlebugs consignment sale in Hattiesburg. I sold handmade cards as well as discounted scrapbook supplies. I was clearing out my stash because I have TOO MUCH STUFF and I'm always WANTING NEW STUFF. If you know anything about the scrapbooking industry, products are typically short-lived. With the exception of tools, paints, etc. you can't find a particular patterned paper year after year. Product releases are scheduled around CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) shows which happen twice a year. This means that twice a year manufacturers have NEW stuff. It's a craft hoarders dream/nightmare.<br />
<br />
I still have a ton of stuff left and it's still for sale. I'm thinking about listing some of it on etsy and selling the rest at crops. Yes, you heard right. There are scrapbook parties / crops in the works. With both the local independent scrapbook stores closed, the opportunity to get together with fellow scrappers has all but ceased to exist. Well, no more baby! I'm bringing 'em back! Stay tuned for details.<br />
<br />
In the meantime, I'm trying to get my house back in order. And, I've been doing a lot of creative play as well. I've been pulling out old photos to scrapbook.<br />
